Carissa Williams, M.S., PLMHP

Carissa earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and is a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP). She will begin accepting clients in August 2026 and provides therapy under the supervision of Sharon Knaub, M.S.ED., LIMHP

Carissa has spent her career working alongside individuals facing significant life challenges, including mental health concerns, trauma, crisis situations, and complex psychosocial stressors. Prior to entering clinical practice, she held leadership positions within community mental health and human service organizations, where she gained extensive experience supporting individuals with diverse needs and navigating complex systems of care.

Carissa utilizes evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed interventions. She works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She has a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, complex trauma, and dissociation. Carissa is passionate about helping clients understand how past experiences influence present struggles, develop effective coping strategies, strengthen emotional resilience, and build healthier relationships within themselves and with others. Her goal is to help clients move beyond survival and toward lasting healing, growth, and meaningful change.

Carissa believes healing occurs within a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. She strives to create a nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore difficult experiences while working toward meaningful change.
